A leading construction firm in Malaysia is seeking a Legal Specialist to provide comprehensive legal support for its operations. The successful candidate will be involved in contract negotiation, risk management, and legal guidance, focusing on compliance with Malaysian laws. Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and have relevant experience in construction law.
About the role
As a Legal Specialist at SHANGHAI BAOYE GROUP (MALAYSIA) SDN.BHD', you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive legal support and guidance to the company's operations in Kuala Lumpur. This full-time position requires an individual with a strong background in general legal practice, with a focus on in-house legal services.
What you'll be doing
1. Participated in business contract negotiation of the company, provided legal advice on relevant issues, and assisted in reviewing contract terms and relevant legal documents;
2. Assisted in handling legal disputes related to the project, and assisted in drafting, reviewing and revising legal documents and letters of the company and the project;
3. Contact customers, subcontractors, suppliers, company legal counsel and other contract parties with the consent of the Company;
4. Identify risks in the process of project management;
5. Assisted in handling legal affairs and disputes related to the company, cooperated with the China headquarters and local legal counsel of the company to safeguard the interests of the company;
6. Assist in handling the company's litigation cases and provide legal support and suggestions;
7. Provide general legal advice, organize internal legal training and legal knowledge sharing;
8. Assisted in the preparation and release of model contracts of the company, drafted and reviewed various contracts to ensure that the contract terms were legal, standardized and rigorous;
9. Assisted the company in all legal aspects, including contract negotiation, contract review, risk management and compliance management, and understood the requirements of relevant laws and regulations in Malaysia;
10. Responsible for other tasks assigned by the company.
What we're looking for
Education: Malaysian local university graduate with a minimum qualification of Bachelor of Laws (LLB);
Specialization: Law major or QS major
Knowledge: Familiar with Malaysian PAM2006. Familiar with Malaysian contract law, construction law and commercial law, priority will be given;
Age: Under 35
Certificate: Local Malaysian lawyer qualification is preferred
Language: Proficient in Malay and English, with listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in both languages. Chinese speakers are preferred;
Experience: experience in delay analysis, loss and cost claim of construction projects in Malaysia, and construction mediation. Internship experience in local courts and arbitration tribunals in Malaysia is preferred;
Personal qualities: self-motivation, good interpersonal skills, responsibility, results oriented, able to work independently
