Reporting to the Director Legal, APAC, this role will be based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop practical experience in a dynamic, global business environment. You will be part of one global legal and compliance team spanning across multiple jurisdictions. Your Impact in This Role

As a Legal Counsel, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Support the Director Legal, APAC by being a legal business partner to Sibelco’s teams in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, India, China, Taiwan, Thailand and South Korea.

Contracts: Support a broad range of commercial transactions including employment law matters by drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing relevant agreements, application documents and tender process documentation.

Advisory and Legal Research: Conduct legal and regulatory research to assist in preparing legal advice, reports, presentations, and training materials.

Litigation: Assist in the management of litigation matters, including case management and preparation for trials, hearings, and mediations.

Compliance: Support the implementation and maintenance of compliance programs, including anti-corruption, data protection and conducting workplace investigations, field compliance reviews and assisting in the conduct of the organization’s code of conduct and other policy initiatives by preparing training and communication material and conducting training sessions.

Company Secretarial Support: coordinating the maintenance and updating of statutory registers and documents using the organization’s tool (e.g., register of shareholders, directors, board resolutions) and company records.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Law;

1-3 years of relevant work experience gained as in-house counsel at a global organization and/or at a law firm.

Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks with supervision.

Strong analytical and research skills, with keen attention to detail.

Is a team player who thrives on succeeding together.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Fluency in English is essential, additional language skills in an APAC language is a plus but not required.

Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
