Job summary

A leading company in Malaysia seeks a Legal Counsel to draft and negotiate contracts, provide legal advice, and ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor of Laws and a minimum of 3 years' experience in corporate and commercial law. Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia are required, along with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Job description
Job Responsibilities

Drafting, vetting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts and any other type of legal documents as requested by the Head of Legal from time to time.

Identifying and evaluating legal issues arising from commitments made by the company and to advise and formulate appropriate resolutions for the same.

Provide legal opinion, advice and guidance to executives on a variety of legal topics and contractual arrangements to ensure that the company's interests are protected and there are no adverse legal implications within its operations and among its subsidiaries.

Specify internal governance policies and regularly monitor compliance.

Review of the company’s business framework to ensure internal governance and compliance to the various laws and regulations applicable to the business and operations of the company.

Provide legal advice on legal and regulatory issues and all regulations applicable to the business including dealing with regulators where required.

Assist with possible mergers, acquisitions and formation of business entities within the jurisdiction and other markets for business expansion.

Communicate and liaise with external counsel and company secretary where applicable.

Documenting, filing and retention of legal documents securely.

Performing various tasks related to the legal matters of the company.

Requirements

Must possess recognized Bachelor of Laws (Honours) or higher.

Minimum 3 years of working experience in related fields.

Work experience in corporate & commercial field is an added advantage.

Pleasant personality and able to communicate with all levels.

Able to work with minimum supervision, multi-tasking and meet deadlines.

Computer Literate and good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
