A leading company in Malaysia is seeking a Legal Advisor to provide expert legal counsel to various departments. This role involves drafting and reviewing essential legal documents, ensuring compliance, and managing regulatory affairs. Ideal candidates will possess an LLB degree and strong communication skills, with the ability to navigate complex legal frameworks and promote legal awareness across the organization.
Job Purpose:
Provide expert legal advice to all departments, ensuring organizational compliance and risk mitigation. The role covers drafting and reviewing legal documents, managing legal administration, and advising on a wide range of business activities, including contracts, procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, 3PL, and principal-related matters.
Job Duties & Responsibilities;-
Provide legal and compliance advisory support to management and all departments on matters affecting the company's operations in Malaysia.
Draft, review, and negotiate a range of legal documents including commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and purchase orders, ensuring alignment with local laws and corporate policies.
Oversee compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including the management of regulatory filings, business licensing, and external audits, in accordance with Malaysian legal standards as well as global corporate compliance frameworks.
Conduct internal training sessions to raise awareness and build capacity on relevant legal, regulatory, and compliance issues across departments.
Support corporate secretarial functions, including preparation and maintenance of statutory records and assistance in Board and shareholder meetings where necessary.
Identify and mitigate legal risks, and provide strategic legal support during disputes, investigations, or crisis situations, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with applicable regulations.
Requirements
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from any Malaysia's Bar Council recognized Institutions.
Completion of the Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP), or exemption granted through a Malaysian-recognized law degree with completed chambering requirements.
Strong legal drafting skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
Good working knowledge of Malaysian laws, including commercial, regulatory, and compliance frameworks.
Prior experience in a corporate or in-house legal role is an advantage, but not mandatory.
