Position

Legal and Compliance Officer

Salary Range

RM 4,000 - RM 6,000

Location

Millerz Square, Old Klang Road

Working Hours

Monday - Friday (9.00am - 6.00pm)

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in reviewing, drafting, structuring, and negotiating commercial contracts such as NDAs, service agreements, leases, and other legal documents, ensuring alignment with company objectives and timelines.
  2. Liaise with internal stakeholders and clients to support contract negotiations and clarify legal terms or concerns.
  3. Provide legal advice on issues arising from daily operations, including disputes and commercial risks.
  4. Support the implementation and maintenance of contracts management processes to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  5. Conduct legal research and monitor regulatory updates affecting recruitment and real estate sectors.
  6. Advise on intellectual property, employment law, data privacy, AML, cybersecurity, and other regulations.
  7. Contribute to compliance programs by drafting and reviewing policies to ensure regulatory adherence.
  8. Perform due diligence, compliance checks, and customer onboarding reviews in line with AML/CFT requirements.
  9. Conduct customer screening, enhanced due diligence, and investigate suspicious activities, escalating non-compliance as needed.
  10. Collaborate with legal, compliance, audit, and operations teams to align business practices with legal and regulatory standards.
  11. Provide in-house legal and compliance training to promote a strong compliance culture.
  12. Assist in preparing compliance reports and maintaining audit-ready documentation.
  13. Participate in legal assessments of new business opportunities, identifying risks and providing recommendations.
  14. Undertake additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws degree and admission to the bar.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in legal, compliance, or regulatory roles, preferably in real estate, financial services, or multinational companies.
  • Professional AML/CFT certification is advantageous.
  • Experience as a legal assistant, executive, or associate, with in-house and litigation exposure preferred.
  • Proficiency in English, Malay, and Mandarin; fluency in Mandarin is essential for stakeholder communication.
  • Strong legal analysis, critical thinking, and application of statutes and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Adaptability and eagerness to handle diverse legal and compliance matters in a fast-paced environment.
  • Corporate experience and litigation background are preferred.
