We are a MAS licensed startup that has been in business for the past 5 years. We have recently been recognized as the PayTech of the Year at 2024 Asia FinTech Awards. With a profitable MVP, we are now focused on scaling our business model globally.

We are seeking a Legal Associate to support the development and implementation of our group legal strategy, with a focus on regulatory compliance and commercial contract negotiation. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of legal matters, including financial and crypto regulations, product contracts, licensing, and risk management. You will collaborate with both internal teams and external counsel to ensure the company’s operations align with legal and regulatory standards across multiple jurisdictions.

What you'll do:

Contribute to the development and execution of the group’s legal strategy in alignment with broader business objectives.

Manage relationships with external legal counsel, including engagement, case oversight, and quality control to ensure effective outcomes.

Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and trading agreements, ensuring compliance with legal standards and internal policies.

Advise on regulatory matters related to product offerings, marketing, licensing, and other compliance requirements across key jurisdictions.

Develop, implement, and manage legal and compliance frameworks to support the company’s regulatory obligations and risk posture.

Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s operations and provide timely, strategic legal advice.

Collaborate with the Compliance team on licensing, product launches, regulatory reviews, and ongoing risk assessments.

Support internal legal training and awareness initiatives to promote sound risk management and regulatory compliance across teams.

What we're looking for:

Qualified lawyer in an English, Commonwealth, U.S., or European jurisdiction.

Around 1 to 3 years of post-qualification or relevant legal experience in a top-tier law firm, in-house legal team, or regulatory environment.

Exposure to regulatory issues in fintech, payments, or financial services is an advantage.

Familiarity with financial or crypto regulatory regimes (e.g., FCA, MAS, HK SFC, VARA) is a strong plus but not required.

Experience in non-contentious legal work is essential; candidates with dispute resolution or litigation experience are also welcome.

Proven ability to work independently in fast-paced, high-growth environments; start-up experience is a plus.

Exceptional legal drafting, interpretation, and analytical skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities with a practical approach to risk and compliance.

High standards of ethics, integrity, and accountability.

Proficiency in both English and Mandarin, as you will collaborate with Chinese vendors.

The role is based fully onsite, requiring your presence in the office.
