Qualifications

  • Admitted to the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak/High Court of Malaya.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian law, especially Company Law, Contract Law, and Construction Law is desirable.

About the role

Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our dynamic team in Kuching, Sarawak. You will support the Legal Department in managing and advising on legal matters across Senari Synergy Group’s daily operations. Your role is key in helping the business minimise legal risks and ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.

What you’ll be doing
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support our legal department in various areas of law.
  • Prepare, draft and review contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
  • Conduct preliminary legal research and prepare legal opinions, summaries and reports including support in monitoring changes in relevant laws and regulations affecting the business.
  • Review and provide legal advisory support on contract documents and issues to provide maximum legal protection to the company.
  • Provide dispute and litigation support, gather and organise documents for disputes, claims and litigations; review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers to minimise litigation proceedings.
  • Maintain and monitor group legal and contract database to observe expiry of contracts to ensure timely renewals or terminations. Maintain legal filing systems (physical and digital) for easy retrieval.
  • Assist to develop, implement and monitor group legal policies and/or SOP to ensure overall compliance with the relevant act/regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization’s Anti‑Bribery Management System (ABMS).
  • Liaise with clients, external counsel, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Stay up‑to‑date with changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of legal.
What we’re looking for
  • Minimum Bachelor of Law with more than 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Professional qualification: Admitted to the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak/High Court of Malaya.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Proficient in using legal research tools, Microsoft Office, and other relevant software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.
  • Highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian law particularly Company Law, Contract Law, Construction Law and legal practices is desirable.
