Legal Advisor

Job Description:

Client: A subsidiary of a leading oil and gas exploration and production company.

Type of hiring: 1-3 years contract

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head of Legal in the review and negotiation of agreements/contracts.
• Provide necessary support to the Head of Legal.
• Assist the Legal Manager with various matters, including insurance, corporate secretarial, procurement technical clarification, procurement post-award issues, external relations, and investor relations as required.
• Conduct risk assessments and assess the legal impact of business decisions related to Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs), Joint Operating Agreements (JOAs), and other upstream agreements.
• Ensure that all agreements and contracts entered into by the company are negotiated on the most advantageous terms.
• Oversee the placement of insurance policies for all operating and general insurance where necessary.
• Manage external counsel, insurance brokers, underwriters, and corporate secretarial responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years experience (post admission to the Malaysian Bar).
• Experienced in oil and gas industry.
• Familiar with the Production Sharing Contracts, Joint Operating Agreements and upstream oil & gas operations agreements.
• Must be analytical and able to work independently.
• A team player, communications and leadership skills.
• Only local residents will be considered.
