JOB SUMMARY
Location
: Kuching, Sarawak
- Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate units in Interior Architecture within the School of Design and Arts.
- The role includes contributing to research, curriculum development, and professional engagement.
- The ideal candidate must have expertise in interior design principles, sustainable design, and spatial planning.
- Candidates with knowledge in digital visualization, material innovation, or experiential design will be highly regarded.
Full Time
- Maintain high academic and professional standards in all areas of activity.
- Administer and develop the learning programs offered by the Faculty.
- Administer and develop various educational policies and management systems within the Faculty and the University.
- Develop a vibrant academic community within the Faculty based on openness, collaboration, and experimentation.
- Engage professionally with business and industry relevant to the Faculty.
- Lead in academic and professional activities relevant to the Faculty.
- Lead community affairs, especially those related to the academic areas of the Faculty.
- Undertake leadership and service activities with impact, as outlined in the “Guidelines for Expectations by Academic Levels” document.

Type
- Pursue innovation and excellence in teaching.
- Continuously develop curriculum and instructional materials for various programs and levels.
- Lead units of study and conduct learning activities including lectures, tutorials (or laboratories), and student assessments to ensure quality.
- Provide consultation and mentorship to students.
- Continuously develop teaching, training, and mentoring skills.
- Design and deliver training sessions for management development programs.
- Expand and develop the Faculty's learning and teaching activities.
- Teaching hours may include weekends and beyond regular hours based on operational needs.
- Undertake teaching activities and achieve impact as per the “Guidelines for Expectations by Academic Levels” at Level B.

- Develop a research and scholarly activities portfolio.
- Disseminate research outputs through relevant platforms.
- Supervise honours and postgraduate (including doctoral) students.
- Contribute to research training activities within the Faculty.
- Develop research groups within the Faculty.
- Secure external research funding.
- Build collaborative research networks.
- Undertake research activities with impact as defined for Level B in the “Guidelines for Expectations by Academic Levels”.
HOW TO APPLY
- PhD in Interior Architecture, Interior Design, or a closely related field.
- Teaching experience in higher education with expertise in interior design and architecture.
- Research record in design innovation, sustainability, or user experience in built environments.
- Professional experience and industry collaborations are advantageous.
- Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent qualifications or professional experience from a reputed institution, including honours or a three-year degree with postgraduate diploma.
- Professional qualification or progress towards one, if applicable.
- Registration with relevant professional bodies, if applicable.
- Master’s or Doctoral degree (preferably by research) in a relevant field from a reputable institution.
- Excellent academic results from pre-university onwards.
- Knowledge in relevant sub-areas or specialties.
- Research track record.
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
