Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Marine Equipment Packages)

Overview:

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Mechanical Engineer with expertise in marine equipment packages to support a major offshore project. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will take ownership of specialised mechanical packages through all project phases-from specification and vendor engagement to delivery and commissioning.

This role offers technical variety, cross-functional coordination, and the opportunity to work on challenging marine and offshore systems in a high-profile project environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage specifications and requisitions for marine mechanical equipment packages such as essential and emergency generators, non-API pumps, inert gas generator systems, firewater pumps, foam expansion units, and similar systems.
• Ensure design and procurement activities meet applicable international codes and standards, including ASME, NFPA, SOLAS, IMO, and classification society requirements.
• Evaluate vendor bids from a technical perspective for medium-risk, less complex packages.
• Act as the main technical contact during post-award execution, reviewing supplier drawings, datasheets, and documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure alignment across project deliverables.
• Provide vendor shop support and site-level engineering input during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases.
• Proactively identify and resolve technical issues across the package lifecycle using your expertise and sound engineering judgement.
• Promote safety, compliance, and ethical behaviour in all business activities.

Candidate Profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the oil and gas industry.
• Solid background in marine systems or offshore platforms, ideally including FPSO projects.
• Previous experience working on EPC projects from design through to commissioning.
• Familiar with key industry codes and standards such as ASME, NFPA, IMO, SOLAS, and classification society regulations.
• Strong technical, documentation, and communication skills.
• Capable of working independently and managing interfaces with multiple stakeholders.
