Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Lead Safety Engineer specializing in offshore platforms. The role involves providing technical safety leadership throughout various project phases, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least 15 years of oil and gas safety engineering experience, including 8 years offshore. Familiarity with EPC/EPCI processes is advantageous. This position is based in Kuala Lumpur with site requirements as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process, or related).
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in oil and gas safety engineering, including 8 years offshore.
  • Proven track record leading safety studies and coordinating multi-discipline interfaces.
  • Strong knowledge of international safety standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • EPC/EPCI experience and familiarity with offshore facilities.
  • Formal training or certification in functional safety, HAZOP facilitation, or risk assessment is advantageous.

  • Lead and coordinate all safety engineering activities for the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain safety design philosophies, HSE plans, and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with project, national, and international safety standards.
  • Perform HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, QRA, Fire & Explosion Risk Analysis, and EERA studies.
  • Oversee design of fire and gas detection, fire protection systems, and safety layouts.
  • Approve safety-related deliverables including equipment specifications and interface drawings.
  • Participate in design and constructability reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure knowledge transfer.

Overview

Provides technical safety leadership throughout all phases of offshore platform projects, integrating safety principles into design, fabrication, and installation activities.

Key Responsibilities
