Qualifications

  • 5 - 10 years experience in greenfield oil and gas plant.
  • Valid CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI welding certificates required.
  • Good interpretation skills of international codes.
  • Competent in piping P&ID, ISO drawings, and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge in specialized materials like SS and Nickel alloys.
  • Operational experience in applying quality systems.

Job description

Connect Energy is looking for a Lead QA/QC Engineer to work on a Biorefinery project in Tanjung Langsat, Johor Bahru -Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating the implementation of the project inspection and test plans.
  • Ensuring the adherence to the Project Quality Management System and Project Execution Plan
  • Ensure compliance with endorsed procedures and Management Plants
  • Responsible for managing the site quality team and subcontractor's quality team
  • Review the contractor's Quality Control Procedures (QCP), Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) and Method Statements (MS)
  • Support the Construction and Engineering for the Project Completion activities
  • Assist the Quality Manager in monitoring the implementation and maintenance of the project management system and other relevant project procedures developed by the project team.
  • Responsible for the preparation of relevant welding procedure specification (WPS) and coordination with approved testing Agencies for all welding-related inspection and testing.
  • Report on quality related matters to the Quality Manager, including preparation of monthly summary reports
  • Promote quality awareness with project personnel
  • Interact with construction Supervisors and Foremen to implement and coordinate the Project Execution Plan and attachments
  • Interact with Managers and Site Engineers to implement and coordinate the Welding Procedure Specification, inspection and Test Plan (ITP) per the Construction Execution Procedure (CEP) schedule.
  • Conduct site verification of construction drawings, procedures, inspection plans etc being used by construction personnel
  • Conduct quality inspection surveillance on site and raise an NCR or Quality observation whichever is applicable if there are quality issues on site.
  • Investigate any NCRs and submit the report to the Quality and Risk Manager for review before issuance to the relevant party
  • Coordinate on site control activities and construction personnel
  • Perform and arrange inspection and testing per applicable inspection and test plan.
  • Ensuring the relevant quality records are completed and submitted for inclusion in the quality records.
  • Review and confirm adherence to construction verification processes
  • Be the "window person" for the project and construction entity by coordinating corrective actions for outstanding issues
  • Drive the collation of construction entity data and deliverables to achieve the Project's summary reports
  • Report on design related matters to the Quality Manager, including preparation of as - required summary reports
  • Interact with other Managers and Engineers to facilitate the implementation of corrective actions identified
  • Implement the project document procedures
  • Audit subcontractors as necessary
  • Control of non-conforming products, procedures and practices
  • Input into the preparation of required reports
  • Routinely engage workers at all levels in discussion aimed at gaining commitment to safe behavior
  • Adopt zero tolerance of work practices and equipment that may be unsafe or have serious adverse environment impact.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with min. 5 - 10 years experience in greenfield oil and gas plant.
  • Candidate must have a valid CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI welding certificates
  • Good interpretation skills of International codes ASME, API, BS-EN, ASTM, ISO Standards
  • Candidate shall be competent in the piping P&ID, ISO drawings and pipe fittings and components, Mechanical Drawings, tankage drawings and technical specifications
  • Knowledge and experience in the specialized materials SS, Super-duplex, and Nickel alloys are highly preferred
  • Hydrogen Pipeline experience an advantage
  • Operational experience in the application of quality systems in the construction industry
  • Understand Mandarin will be an advantage
  • Able to work in Johor, Malaysia within short notice highly preferred.
