About the role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Purchaser to join our dynamic team at Airfoil Services Sdn Bhd. You will play a pivotal part in overseeing the purchasing process, managing supplier relationships and ensuring the procurement function operates efficiently to meet the organization's needs while achieving cost savings and quality standards.

What you'll be doing

Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, reliability and other criteria as per procurement policy. Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic suppliers. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.

Procurement Strategy: Collaborate with Section Manager – Procurement to develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Develop sourcing strategies to optimize costs and minimize supply chain risks.

Purchase Planning: Analyze procurement requirements from assigned departments and create comprehensive purchase plans. Determine optimal procurement methods, such as single-sourcing or dual-sourcing, based on supply chain risk assessment.

Purchase Orders and Contracts: Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in terms, quantities and pricing. Oversee the negotiation, creation and management of contracts with suppliers.

Cost Control: Monitor and control procurement costs by analyzing pricing trends, conducting cost-benefit analysis and seeking cost-effective alternatives. Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining or improving product quality.

Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that purchased items meet specified quality standards. Address quality issues with suppliers and implement corrective actions.

Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures and relevant regulations. Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts and supplier agreements. Assist Section Manager – Procurement to define procurement policies and procedures. Comply and support Environmental Health & Safety policies, rules and regulations at all times.

Market Research and Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, new products and emerging technologies in relevant industries. Provide insights on market conditions that may impact procurement decisions.

Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to the team. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, quality assurance, finance, logistics, etc to ensure smooth procurement processes.

What we're looking for

Significant experience (5+ years) in a purchasing or procurement role

Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier relationship management

Knowledge of international trade regulations and customs procedures is advantageous.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements

Proactive, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
