Job summary

Black & Veatch in Miri, Malaysia seeks a Senior Start-up/Commissioning Engineer to verify plant equipment against contracts and tests. You will lead startup activities, supervise engineers, and ensure on-time turnover to operations, while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires 5+ years in lead startup, 10+ years in CCGT or gas turbine projects, and CIDB green card with relevant discipline certs; engineering degree preferred.

Qualifications

• 5 years minimum as Lead Start-up or commissioning or Operation Engineer in CCGT or gas turbine based project.
• 10 years relevant experience with combined cycle power plant experience.
• Sarawak CIDB Green Card and necessary trade certifications as applicable to discipline.
• Bachelor's or Diploma in Engineering preferred.
• All applicants must pass pre-employment onboarding (background check, drug screen, etc.).
• OSHA 10 Hour Training certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident Commissioning and start-up services as Owner’s Engineer.
• Monitor start-up activities and support start-up engineers to accomplish milestones.
• Verify plant equipment compliance with contract and specification requirements.
• Direct discipline engineers, technicians and staff during startup.
• Develop startup packages and review related documentation.
• Review startup schedules and progress, ensuring timely turnover to client.
