Job summary

UEM Edgenta Bhd is seeking an experienced finance leader to head the Group consolidation and statutory reporting. You will oversee collection from subsidiaries, intercompany eliminations, and variance analysis to produce management highlights for the Group and stakeholders.

You will manage statutory financial statements, coordinate Group audits, implement MFRS standards, and support NSRF disclosures, driving governance and timely financial close.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification preferred (e.g. MIA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CPA).

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly Group consolidation process, including collection and validation of submissions from subsidiaries, consolidation adjustments, intercompany reconciliation and elimination, variance analysis and preparation of financial performance highlights for management, UEM Group and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of Group and subsidiary statutory financial statements and manage the Group audit process, including audit planning, deliverables, issue resolution, monitoring of audit adjustments and timely closure of audit matters.
  • Strengthen Group financial reporting governance through periodic balance sheet reviews and monitoring of material accounting matters, reconciliation quality, ageing items and unusual balances, and drive closure of recurring financial reporting issues.
  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of new and revised Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), including MFRS 18, and provide technical accounting guidance to Finance and Business Units to ensure the Group’s financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate Finance’s responsibilities relating to the National Sustainability Reporting Framework (NSRF) and sustainability-related financial disclosures, including collection and validation of financial information, linkage of sustainability risks and opportunities to financial reporting where applicable, coordination with Risk and Business Units, and support for required Group reporting and disclosures.
  • Coordinate recurring and ad hoc financial reporting and submissions to UEM Group/shareholder, the Board, Audit Committee, management and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely submission.
  • Lead and support initiatives to improve the Group consolidation and reporting process, including process re-engineering, automation, standardisation of reporting templates, system enhancements and initiatives to achieve a faster and more reliable financial close.
  • Work closely with GL team, subsidiaries and relevant Finance functions to resolve financial reporting and accounting issues and provide technical accounting advice on significant or complex transactions.
  • Coordinate preparation of the Group Annual Report and financial-related corporate disclosures, ensuring consistency between the statutory financial statements and other financial information released by the Group.
  • Lead, coach and develop the Statutory Reporting team, strengthen technical accounting and consolidation capabilities, establish clear accountability and ensure adequate succession planning and knowledge transfer within the team.

Job Requirements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. MIA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, CPA) is preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in accounting/finance, including at least 5 years in group consolidation and statutory reporting within a large group of companies.
  • At least 5 years in a supervisory or team lead role managing a financial reporting team.
  • Proven track record in managing the external audit process and implementing new or revised MFRS.
  • Experience with a Big Four audit firm is an advantage.
  • Exposure to sustainability reporting (NSRF/ISSB), consolidation systems or financial reporting transformation is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly MFRS.
  • Advanced MS Excel and financial consolidation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to deliver under tight reporting deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
