Keywords Studios is expanding its Southeast Asia team and seeks a Lead Environment Artist for an exciting new project. The role spans Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam (Remote), or Singapore (on-site), with permanent or contract options and a hybrid/remote working pattern.

The candidate will mentor artists, drive visual quality, and help shape modular environment pipelines across platforms. Applicants should have shipped AAA or high-quality titles and demonstrate strong lighting, textures, materials,

Qualifications

• Senior or Lead Environment Artist with shipped AAA or high-quality game project experience.
• Strong environment art fundamentals via a robust portfolio.
• Understanding of modular workflow, textures, materials, and PBR pipelines.
• Experience with modern game engines (Unreal/Unity or proprietary).
• Mentoring or guiding other artists in art direction and production.

Responsabilités

• Create high-quality environment art and set visual/quality bar for the team.
• Build, iterate and optimize environments for gameplay, narrative, and direction.
• Collaborate with Art Direction, Level Design and Tech Art to ensure visuals and performance.
• Mentor and provide feedback to Environment Artists.
• Define modular and kit-based environment production approaches.
• Review and improve environment assets, materials, and scenes for consistency.
• Troubleshoot performance and production issues in the environment pipeline.
• Contribute to visual benchmarks and environment art workflows.
• Support planning and estimation while staying engaged in asset production.

Keywords Studios is currently looking to expand its team in Southeast Asia. We're currently looking for an accomplished, enthusiastic and self-motivated Lead Environment Artist to join our team working on an exciting, new and unannounced project.

Keywords Studios is a global leader providing art services to AAA Publishers. Our work can be seen across many of the top-selling titles on console, PC and mobile. You'll get to work alongside seasoned developers bringing expertise from world-class AAA studios.

This position may be offered as either a permanent or fixed-term contract role, depending on the project's requirements, business needs, and the candidate's experience and level.

These opportunities can be located in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam (Remote), or Singapore (on-site). Sponsorship and relocation are not being offered as part of this package.

A Lead Environment Artist at Keywords Studios:

• Creates high-quality environment art while helping set the visual and quality bar for the team.
• Builds, iterates, and optimises environments that support gameplay, narrative, and artistic direction.
• Works closely with Art Direction, Level Design, and Technical Art to develop visually strong and performant environments.
• Provides hands-on guidance, feedback, and mentoring to Environment Artists.
• Helps define modular and kit-based approaches to environment production.
• Reviews and improves environment assets, materials, and scenes to maintain quality and consistency.
• Troubleshoots performance, technical, and production issues within the environment art pipeline.
• Contributes to visual benchmarks and helps establish effective environment art workflows.
• Supports planning and estimation while remaining actively involved in asset and environment production.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Environment Artist on a shipped AAA or high-quality game project.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating environment art fundamentals and production experience.
• Strong understanding of modular environment workflows, textures, materials, and PBR pipelines.
• Proficiency with modern game engines such as Unreal, Unity, or proprietary engines.
• Good understanding of lighting workflows and real-time performance considerations.
• Experience mentoring or providing artistic guidance to other artists.
• Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and iterate quickly based on feedback.
• Experience with profiling, debugging, or workflow automation is an advantage.
