Job summary

SM2 Consulting supports a global manufacturer seeking a Lead Engineer to coordinate electrical, mechanical, controls, and CAD teams in a factory environment delivering prefabricated infrastructure modules.

You will resolve clashes, lead drawing packages, allocate resources to milestones, and mentor engineers while ensuring FAT and commissioning documentation meets project goals in Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years in a lead engineer role, factory operations, or manufacturing of electrical/mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with prefabricated/modular equipment, power distribution units, or related industrial systems is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage power systems, mechanical assemblies, and cooling systems.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings and BOMs; experience leading Factory Acceptance Tests.
  • Fluent English; able to manage multiple concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate electrical, mechanical, controls, and CAD teams in a factory environment.
  • Resolve clashes early (cable routing, structural capacity, battery clearances, busbar interfaces, PLC/SCADA points).
  • Lead cross-disciplinary teams to deliver accurate for-construction drawing packages (single-line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, wiring schematics, HVAC layouts, grounding, and network architecture).
  • Allocate engineering resources against build milestones and factory throughput targets.
  • Review and validate sequence-of-operations documentation for power, cooling, and controls systems.
  • Coach and mentor electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers.
  • Oversee commissioning documentation — FAT scripts, test procedures, load-bank plans, protection coordination files.

Job description

Our client is a global manufacturer of mission-critical power, cooling, and modular infrastructure systems is hiring a Lead Engineer to coordinate electrical, mechanical, controls, and CAD engineering teams within a factory environment producing prefabricated infrastructure modules.

What you'll do
  • Resolve technical clashes early (cable routing, structural capacity, battery clearances, busbar interfaces, PLC/SCADA points).
  • Lead cross-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver accurate for-construction drawing packages (single-line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, wiring schematics, HVAC layouts, grounding, and network architecture).
  • Allocate engineering resources against build milestones and factory throughput targets.
  • Review and validate sequence-of-operations documentation for power, cooling, and controls systems against solution architecture and factory integration constraints.
  • Coach and mentor electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers.
  • Oversee commissioning documentation — factory acceptance test scripts, test procedures, load-bank plans, protection coordination files.
  • Run build-readiness reviews with production, quality, HSE, and supply chain to confirm materials, drawings, and procedures are released before production start.
What you bring
