Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process

Location: Penang, 07, MY

This position is for a product quality engineer. As a product quality engineer for backend, one will review customer reported failures, manage and improve field RMA test plans and RMA reports, and be involved in customer quality case investigations. Although primarily focused on quality management, the candidate must interface with the product testing team, QA team, PMO team, GDS engineering team, and customer-facing teams.

Candidate must have strong knowledge in quality management and a technological background in switch, storage, and server product testing.

Detailed Description
  1. Review and manage the RMA tracker to ensure data integrity and completeness for data analysis.
  2. Monitor RMA failure analysis activities, identify gaps, and suggest improvements.
  3. Build and maintain a know-issue list for quality data analysis.
  4. Review RMA failure analysis results and provide feedback to design, manufacturing, and SCM teams.
  5. Collaborate with manufacturing QA on quality case investigations, providing guidelines on failure analysis and impact assessment.
  6. Coordinate with DQM team for failure analysis of major customer quality cases.
  7. Develop RMA testing improvement plans to support initiatives aimed at reducing non-root causes.
  8. Review customer reports for key accounts to enhance customer experience.
  9. Possess experience with product quality management tools such as Pareto, 5 Whys, Fault Tree Analysis, Scatter Diagrams, 8D reports, Fishbone diagrams, and failure analysis principles.
  10. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  11. Demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills, with attention to detail.
  12. Ability to work effectively in a team and adhere to high-quality standards.
Physical Demands
Typical Experience
  • Ability to switch between tasks to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
  • Experience working with Asian-based design and production teams is preferred.
  • Experience as a people-driven manager for at least 3 years is desired.
  • Participation in quality management and product testing experience are advantageous.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, capable of working independently in a dynamic team environment, and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills to liaise effectively across teams and with clients.

Typical Education

BSc in Electrical Engineering is required.
