A global energy solutions provider in Penang is seeking an Advanced Failure Analysis Engineer. This role focuses on analyzing RF and power systems to resolve product failures, enhance product reliability, and support design improvements. The ideal candidate should have over 10 years of experience in failure analysis and solid knowledge of RF components and power electronics. The Advanced Failure Analysis Engineer will leverage his/ her expertise in RF and power systems to analyze and resolve product failures, support design improvements, develop repair diagnostic solution and enhance product reliability.
Conduct in-depth failure analysis of RF and power systems, circuits, and components to determine root causes of product malfunctions.
Perform physical, electrical, and thermal analyses using advanced tools and techniques.
Collaborate with design teams to review RF and power circuit designs for potential failure risks and reliability concerns.
Propose design enhancements to improve robustness and performance.
Develop and execute test plans for RF and power systems to replicate and identify failure modes.
Use specialized equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers to validate design parameters.
Prepare detailed failure analysis reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of testing procedures, results, and recommendations.
Work closely with manufacturing, quality, and reliability teams to address production and field issues.
Provide technical guidance to support customer issue resolution.
Stay updated on advancements in RF and power technologies and recommend their integration into products.
Improve FA methodologies and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Education:
• Bachelor\'s or Master\'s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in failure analysis, RF design, and power system design.
• Strong understanding of RF components (amplifiers, filters, mixers, etc.), power electronics (converters, inverters, etc.), and PCB design principles.
• Familiarity with reliability testing standards and methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Skills:
• Strong knowledge of PCB design, manufacturing, and repair diagnostic tools.
• Experience with JTAG, UART, I2C, SPI, Processor Based Fast Programming, Processor Based Fast Testing.
• Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzer, DMM, and signal generators.
• Proficiency in using simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, SPICE) and FA tools (e.g., SEM, X-ray, TDR).
• Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and power meters.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with thermal and electromagnetic interference (EMI) analysis.
• Knowledge of advanced materials used in RF and power systems.
• Experience with DFT, DFM and DFx (Design for Test, Manufacturability, etc.).
• Knowledge of industry standards and certification processes.
• Familiarity with CAD tools and schematic/layout review.
