Job Title: Lead Discipline Engineer – Subsea (Control / Hardware)
Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Contract Type: 1-Year Contract (Renewable)
Preferred Experience: Full cycle FSO/FPSO project experience

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Lead Subsea Engineer – Control / Hardware to lead the design, development, and delivery of subsea control systems and hardware for offshore oil and gas projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in subsea production systems, with a focus on control systems, umbilicals, subsea distribution hardware, and interface management across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering and delivery of subsea control systems and hardware, including SCMs, SDUs, umbilicals, and subsea distribution assemblies.
  • Manage the full engineering lifecycle from concept, FEED, detailed design, procurement, FAT, SIT, installation, and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (API 17F, 17D, ISO 13628), client specifications, and project requirements.
  • Interface with vendors, clients, and internal disciplines to ensure technical alignment and integration of subsea systems.
  • Lead technical reviews, design verification, and risk assessments (HAZOP, HAZID, FMECA).
  • Oversee the preparation and review of engineering deliverables such as specifications, datasheets, interface control documents, and test procedures.
  • Support procurement activities including vendor selection, technical bid evaluations, and document reviews.
  • Provide technical support during manufacturing, testing, and offshore installation.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality and consistency across all subsea control and hardware deliverables.
  • Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs within budget and schedule.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Subsea, Mechanical, Electrical, or Control Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in subsea engineering, with a strong focus on subsea control systems and hardware.
  • Proven experience in delivering subsea projects in an EPC or EPCI environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of subsea production systems, control architecture, and interface management.
  • Familiarity with subsea communication protocols, hydraulic systems, and electrical distribution.
  • Proficient in engineering tools such as Aveva, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and relevant simulation software.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
