Job summary

Dyson Institute is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to drive high‑level engineering development for market‑leading products. You will own design specifications, manage prototypes, and lead cross‑functional collaboration with Technical Leads, Engineering Managers, and the Global Operations team.

The role demands strong problem solving, disciplined design processes, and a track record of delivering production‑ready designs.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Science discipline or equivalent.
• 8+ years of design and product development experience on complex projects with DFM, DFA, DFC.
• Ability to analyze processes, identify problems, and develop efficient strategies.

Responsibilities

• Deliver product designs and assemblies to production on time, cost, quality and spec.
• Plan and prioritize tasks based on risk, maturity and interdependency.
• Specify design requirements with clear, measurable objectives.
• Lead high-risk engineering problems with solid design considerations.
• Provide guidance, set goals, and delegate tasks effectively.
• Collaborate with Leads and Global Ops to ensure timely inputs.
• Review and approve detailed 3D models, drawings, BOMs and specs.
• Manage prototypes for testing, review, and demonstration.
• Drive sustaining work to improve quality and reduce costs.
