A leading company in adhesive technology is seeking a Lab Technician to support research and development activities in their Klang, Malaysia location. The position involves hands-on work in preparing and conducting laboratory tests, ensuring the proper operation of equipment, and maintaining safety practices. Ideal candidates will possess a diploma in Laboratory Technology along with experience in industrial labs, particularly with Hot Melt chemistries. Responsibilities include managing raw materials, generating standard operating procedures, and maintaining an organized laboratory environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Lab Technician position supports research and development activities focused on strategic business markets based on Hot melt adhesives technology. This function reports to Technical Manager or Section Leader position.
This position is will be located in R&D laboratory in Klang, Malaysia and will be supporting R&D efforts for SEA Region.
PRIMARY DUTIES
This individual will be responsible for preparing, conducting laboratory testing, experiment samples, trial samples preparation in the HB Fuller technology line of Hot Melt chemistry. This would include securing raw materials, preparing samples, measuring physical properties and testing performance properties and running R&D laboratory equipment.
This is a highly hands-on, lab bench work position. Responsibility also includes maintaining and ensuring test equipment is in good working order. In addition, the Technician II must manage the inventory of raw materials, standard substrates and finished products. Also required to keep clean lab environment through 5S practices in place. Also required to generate SOP for tests and equipment operation within their responsibility.
The Technician II must be able to perform complex, simultaneous laboratory tasks and procedures accurately, and in a timely fashion. They must demonstrate ability to communicate well with fellow employees, suppliers and customers and must have the ability to take a problem in its most basic form and reach a satisfactory conclusion with little supervision. They must possess the ability to be flexible and to quickly reprioritize and organize daily work based on changing business needs.
The Technician II shall fulfill responsibilities as required by the Planview, Quality Management System, Safety Practices, and SOP’s for the site, laboratory and technical center.
Minimum Requirements
Combination of years of college, high school chemistry AND/OR years of Industrial Laboratory experience, the sum or which totals 4 years.
2 year Vocational / Technical Diploma or Certificate in Laboratory Technology plus 2 years of Industrial Laboratory experience.
Plus the ability to perform complex laboratory and pilot plant tasks accurately and expeditiously with little supervision.
