Job description

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Material Testing Laboratory Engineer to perform and support a wide range of material testing activities in accordance with approved standards and procedures. The role involves conducting laboratory and on-site testing, assisting in method development, and ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) requirements. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in soil, concrete and other material testing, and demonstrate accuracy in data recording and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory tests as per approved test method or procedures.
• Assist Laboratory Manager in carrying out laboratory testing, method development and compliance with QA/QC requirements.
• Ensure all relevant raw data or test information is correctly and accurately recorded in the provided raw data sheet or manual logbook.
• Perform testing at laboratory and project sites.
• Support laboratory functions.
• Have knowledge of carrying out the full range of soil & concrete testing works required in construction sites.
• Handle any ad hoc duties as required by Lab Manager/Superior from time to time.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1–3 years of relevant working experience in material testing (soil, concrete, or aggregates).
• Familiar with standards such as BS, ASTM, MS EN or similar testing protocols.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to travel to project sites when necessary.
• Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory practices is an advantage.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday – 8.30am - 5.30pm; Alternate Saturday – 8.30am – 12.30pm
