Job description

Primary Function

Carry out accurate and timely analysis as required. Support and maintain laboratory operations.

Principal Duties/Responsibilities

· Carry out tests in accordance with standard methods given on the worksheet.

· Ensure data generated in laboratory meets all the requirements of the “data handling guideline” procedure, enforced in the laboratory.

· Review and repeat tests if suspicious or abnormal resultsare encountered.

· Participate in all Laboratory functions including Proficiency testing, SQC checks, meetings, discussions etc.

· Maintain good housekeeping of work area by cleaning up (cleaning glassware, cleaning instruments, clearing samples etc.) after each test.

· Assist chemists in new methods development.

· Standardize reagent/equipment, prepare titration solvents and test solutions when necessary.

· Work overtime when required.

· Represent the Laboratory for witnessing at third party laboratory.

· Perform any tasks as assigned by management.

· Maintain cleanliness of work area during work and before handing over to the next shift.

· Arrive punctually to work and take over from the previous shift.

Requirements

· Minimum Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical engineering; applicants with professional certificate or Higher Nitec with related experience will be considered.

· One year of working experience in petroleum or petrochemical laboratory industry preferred, entry level or applicants without relevant experience will be considered.

· Experience in handling laboratory instruments such as GC, GCMS, HPLC, FTIR, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV spectrophotometer or petroleum physical testing such as distillation unit, flash point tester, density meter etc.

· Physically fit, medical condition should not interfere with laboratory analysis.

· Able to work twelve (12) hour morning and night shifts.

· Able to work in a team and support the Team Leader/Assistant Team Leader
