Job description
Position Summary

The Lab Engineer support within assigned projects/activities, responsible from coordinating and/or conducting the lab testing, data analysis and report writing, act as method/demo responsible person for all product development and improvement activities & other relevant activities to meet stakeholder, consumer and business needs.

You will play an important role to:

  1. Work according to relevant Vinda requirements documents stored in document control system and practice good laboratory practices.
  2. Plan, test, analyze, conclude, and recommend new or existing product, pack and / or material performance as laboratory expert in innovation projects and other activities, such as value engineering and quality improvements. The participation in projects / activities can be of different levels – as consultant or as project team member or leader.
  3. Translate product design parameters to measurable properties with relevant test methods, equipment, and procedures in the most cost-efficient way.
  4. Develop, evaluate, and validate new laboratory methods to meet consumer and business needs.
  5. Maintain a very good knowledge about internal and external test methods in all areas.
  6. Participate in basic R&D projects to deliver on the R&D platforms and improve state of readiness for future innovation projects.
  7. Perform analysis of competitor products within all area.
  8. Work according to procedures and instructions in the laboratory quality system and in the working environment plan.
  9. Maintain laboratory equipment within performing capability and calibration requirement.
  10. Ensure proper housekeeping, safety and health related rules, procedure & policies are followed by everyone.
  11. Ensure all good laboratory practices are adhered to by everyone at any time.
  12. Manage and / or update all the documentation related to laboratory activities, e.g., Safety Data Sheet, training document, laboratory procedures.
  13. Provide training to related personnel.
  14. Continuously study existing work processes and work with respective process / product owners for improvement purposes.
  15. Always on look-out for any new technology and / or knowledge for potential improvement opportunities.
  16. Always upgrade own knowledge and skills for self-development purposes.
  17. To comply with all ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, Halal, any company certifications, policies, and regulations.
  18. Supporting function of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 or other company certifications activities as when needed.
  19. Act & perform other duties as assigned within PID.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
  • Degree holder in any engineering or science discipline related to Chemistry, Materials, or Physics from recognized university
  • Fresh graduate or at least 2 years of working experience in product development, quality assurance and / or laboratory testing
  • Knowledge in statistical tools and analysis is a must
  • Experience or knowledge in the following fields in FMCG industry, third party laboratories and test method development is preferred
  • Act with consumers in mind. Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Good analytical thinking and ability to translate data and results into conclusion
  • Good supervisory and problem-solving skill
  • Proven statistical understanding and ability to translate result into analysis
  • Good Microsoft Office knowledge - especially in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbally
