Job description
Overview

This entry-level position provides training to work in Graymont laboratories. The employee learns how to use lab equipment, performs required experiments and processes to test the quality of Graymont finished products, core samples and other materials.

Responsibilities
  • Perform required physical or chemical tests using Methods of Analyses, with supervision as needed.
  • Ensure all methods and procedures are followed for compliance with Quality Standards for Laboratory (MS ISO 17025:2017 Accreditation).
  • Learn to perform basic troubleshooting for common problems with some supervision.
  • Learn to perform basic calibration and preventative maintenance duties as assigned with some supervision.
  • Learn to effectively use required equipment.
  • Learn to effectively multi-task to enable flexibility in the delivery of required outputs.
  • Complete other responsibilities, tasks, training and development activities and participate in company programs as required by the Company.
Outcomes
  • Methods of Analysis known and followed to complete required testing.
  • Basic troubleshooting completed.
  • Basic calibration and preventative maintenance duties completed.
  • Required equipment utilized safely and correctly.
  • Flexible approach to work execution.
Qualifications
  • May be required to have a degree in Chemistry (or equivalent) or other relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Can work under supervision and with some autonomy with intermittent guidance on new tasks.
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Basic Microsoft Office experience.
  • Previous experience working in a mineral laboratory and being precise, accurate, methodical, with strong administrative, time management and organizational skills is highly desirable.
