Job description

Role: L2 Support Engineer

Location: Penang, Penang, Malaysia

About the Position: Candidate will be responsible for providing local/remote support to DISW Malaysia Users. Candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of system software and hardware. Provides a high level of support in Windows environment often requiring research. Assists with system administration, monitoring, upgrades, and maintenance. Completes project tasks and plans project tasks or leads small technical projects. Maintains existing domains, servers, and applications throughout the enterprise. Often consults with senior management in the design and deployment of systems solutions. Troubleshoots infrastructure and system problems. Deploys, administers, and supports vendor and in-house applications and associated hardware. Performs moderately complex customization, testing, and debugging on vendor-supplied utilities and enterprise applications.

Job Responsibilities

Evaluates, designs, and maintains domains, servers, and applications throughout the enterprise, using

Mainly Windows. Troubleshoots Windows infrastructure and system problems.

Deploys, administers, and supports vendor and in-house applications and associated hardware. Performs

some customization, testing, and debugging on vendor-supplied utilities and enterprise applications.

Maintains necessary metrics and documentation. Provides technical proposals and recommendations to

various company organizations. Stays current with new technologies. Operates under moderate

supervision.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitors performance and proactively administers assigned systems and in-house applications.
  • Provides regular reports on performance, project status, and other infrastructure data
  • Maintains data, software, and hardware security and emergency procedures.
  • Works with hardware vendors to provide corrective and preventive hardware maintenance.
  • Evaluates, installs and tests systems/network hardware and software.
  • Assists with on-going assessment and upgrading of systems and infrastructure. Researches,
  • evaluates and recommends hardware and software for systems and helps plan for the future.
  • Helps troubleshoot medium to complex systems related problems, also remotely
  • Communicates and coordinates with other system administrators and users, using standard communication processes.
  • Provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 end-user support, as required, using standard tools and processes. Meets
  • response/service levels as determined by IT.
  • Writes some user and system administration documentation.
  • Maintains/expands technical knowledge of system administration and engineering through self-study
  • and structured courses.
  • Must be aware of ITIL and AGILE methodology and have knowledge of ITSM processes.

Qualifications, Accreditations & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or equivalent experience, but at least 5 years of working experience in IT
  • IT professional Certifications are welcome

Experience:

  • At least 4-5 Years of Work Experience in IT

  • Physical ability to install systems and other hardware on data-center racks.
  • Strong knowledge of system administration Windows Operating Systems like Server2019+, VMware ESXi, Win11 and MS office suites. Experience with O365 environment is a must.
  • UNIX and Linux knowledge/troubleshooting skills will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient and have an excellent knowledge of MS Cloud solutions and Licensing.
