Job summary
A leading bank in the region is looking for a compliance expert in Private Banking to ensure adherence to AML regulations. This role involves reviewing client documentation, managing risk initiatives, and liaising with stakeholders in Singapore while working remotely from Malaysia. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in AML, relevant qualifications, and several years of experience in financial institutions, especially in the Singapore and China markets.
Qualifications

- Strong knowledge in Anti Money Laundering and Know Your Client.

Key Responsibilities
- Responsible to review account opening documentation for clients in Private Banking Singapore in accordance with the local laws, regulations and policies in Singapore and Group wide policies, where applicable.
- Liaise with Private Bankers in Singapore to complete required Know Your Client/ECDD including collection of supporting documents from clients to corroborate source of wealth and review complex entities or structures, PEPs, adverse news, sanctions and provide advisory services and guidance on documentation requirements, where required.
- Act as a process expert to ensure document deficiencies are accurately tracked and escalated per procedures and to collaborate with all stakeholders to deliver consistent best in class account opening experience within desired timelines to clients in Private Banking Singapore.
- Assist Governance Team Lead to proactively drive risk and control initiatives to ensure sound process are in place to minimize ML/CFT risks and propose adequate controls in 1st line of defense for Private Banking Singapore and ensure all are being managed appropriately in a proactive, risk based and disciplined manner to meet internal and external regulatory requirements.
- Address concerns and issues from internal stakeholders on AML related matters. Also, conduct joint process walk-throughs, small workshops and integrated training on new or key risk AML controls in Private Banking Singapore.
- Proactively value add by identifying new and emerging risks and typologies related to Private Banking clients and gather and document future AML risk & compliance gaps, define scope of engagement and align with key stakeholders on best delivery approach.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor or Master's Degree or Professional Qualification in the relevant discipline (Law/Finance/Business/Economics or equivalent professional qualification).
- Minimum certification for AML/CFT issued by AICB or similar Compliance certification issued by an acknowledged institution and/or regulatory bodies.
- Strong knowledge in Anti Money Laundering and Know Your Client.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience with financial institutions, preferably in Singapore and China markets.
- Able to work remotely from Malaysia but according to Singapore calendar and liaise with stakeholders in CIMB Singapore.
- Business focused and has proven record of delivery within challenging time scale.
- Good people management skills, verbal and written communication skills, hands on and versatile.
- Proactive, has social intelligence, business development knowledge and problem solving skills.
- Possess strong analytical skills, pay careful attention to details and has an investigative mindset.
- Has the capacity to be organized and able to manage several tasks at one point of time.
- Able to digest large, complex volumes of information and transform the data into PowerPoint and Excel.
