A leading hotel is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join their team in Puchong, Malaysia. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, maintain kitchen hygiene, manage inventory, and support daily operations of the Coffee House. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· To prepare mise-en-place.
· To set up buffet breakfast in the Coffee House daily.
· To regularly check raw item quality inside chiller and freezer.
· To inspect the quality and quantity of all delivery items from suppliers.
· To prepare the morning breakfast for the Coffee House daily.
· To record dry goods inventory in storage.
· To prepare fruit baskets when required.
· To adhere to food safety and hygiene policies.
· To monitor daily stock and inform the Junior Sous Chef of items to be ordered from suppliers.
· To ensure the kitchen is well-organized, tidy, clean, and free of cross-contamination risks.
· To ensure all food is prepared to standard and in good quality.
· To prepare takeaway food upon request.
· To report any missing items and arrange replacements to avoid service delays.
· To inspect daily expiry dates on food items and cooking materials.
· To check the temperature of chillers and freezers as scheduled.
· To ensure smooth operation of kitchen and Coffee House activities.
· To monitor food costs daily and monthly to minimize wastage and spoilage.
· To prevent wastage and spoilage of food items.
· To maintain cleanliness and order in the refrigerator at all times.
· To follow hygiene and food preparation standards, including storage and labeling.
· To prepare cafeteria food.
· To keep the working area and kitchen equipment clean at all times.
· To report maintenance, hygiene, or hazard issues to the relevant department heads or EOD/MOD.
· To prepare food for special events such as Hari Raya, Deepavali, and Chinese New Year celebrations.
· To accommodate guest special requests to the best of ability.
· To ensure all food items are replenished promptly.
· To assist the Food & Beverage Department with clearing and service when needed.
· To assist in beverage preparation when required.
· To assist steward in maintaining cleanliness at the Coffee House and cafeteria.
· To understand departmental fire, emergency, and bomb threat procedures.
· To follow and be familiar with the hotel's standard operating procedures.
· To ensure all emergency procedures are rehearsed, implemented, and enforced.
· To attend all training provided by hotel management.
