Job Title: Key Account Executive / Key Account Manager

Location: Malaysia

Job Summary:

The Key Account Executive/Manager plays a critical role in managing and nurturing a portfolio of high-value key clients across various retail channels including department stores, chemists, perfumeries, boutiques, and counters. This role is responsible for driving sales performance, maintaining optimal stock levels, ensuring customer satisfaction, and fostering long-term client loyalty. The KAE/KAM acts as the primary point of contact for key accounts and works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients at multiple levels within their organizations.
  • Conduct regular store visits and communication touchpoints to ensure proactive engagement and support.
  • Develop tailored sales plans for each key account based on individual client needs and company objectives.
  • Execute promotional activities and ensure alignment with brand strategies and seasonal campaigns.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and effectively manage the budgets allocated to each key account.
  • Track monthly sales results and work with internal teams to meet or exceed targets.
  • Coordinate with HQ and Finance to maintain healthy stock levels across all points of sale.
  • Monitor sell-through rates and implement timely replenishments to avoid out-of-stock or overstock situations.
  • Work with HQ to negotiate pricing, trade terms, and contract renewals with clients to ensure profitability.
  • Understand customer feedback, operational challenges, and emerging needs to propose new business solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand product presence or introduce new SKUs.
  • Regularly track performance metrics, analyze results, and suggest actionable improvements.
  • Provide timely reports and insights to management on sales progress and client updates.
  • Train, coach, and supervise Consultants under your care to ensure achievement of sales and service KPIs.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide on-the-ground support.
  • Stay updated on market developments, trends, and competitor activities to inform business strategies.
  • Monitor the financial health of clients and report any unusual or concerning behavior to HQ and Finance promptly.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Customer Service, and Product Development teams to ensure seamless delivery and execution.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in sales, preferably in FMCG, beauty, or luxury goods industries.
  • Proven experience in managing key accounts and driving retail sales performance.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of the Malaysian retail landscape and relevant industry insights.
  • Willingness to travel locally for store visits and client meetings.
