A leading renovation company in Malaysia is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to oversee tender processes and manage project costs. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying. Proficiency in Chinese, English, and Malay, along with skills in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, is required. This role involves significant interaction with subcontractors and stakeholders, requiring excellent negotiation and analytical skills.
Lead tender processes: Oversee the entire tender process, including negotiating with subcontractors to ensure optimal outcomes for the company.
Manage post-contract works: Take charge of post-contract activities, working independently to ensure successful project completion.
Attend key meetings: Represent the company at tender and site progress meetings, contributing valuable insights and expertise.
Stakeholder communication: Effectively communicate and liaise with consultants and subcontractors to maintain smooth project operations.
Prepare detailed M&E cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans based on project specifications and drawings
Manage tendering processes for M&E packages – including RFQs, bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and award recommendations
Conduct value engineering and cost optimisation exercises to improve overall project cost-efficiency
Review technical specifications and M&E drawings to ensure pricing accuracy and compliance
Monitor project progress and manage cost variations, claims, and change orders related to M&E components
Validate subcontractor claims and progress payments, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and on-site works
Work closely with project engineers, consultants, and site teams to resolve M&E-related cost or design issues
Prepare monthly cost reports, cost-to-complete forecasts, and final accounts
Ensure all commercial activities comply with internal governance, contract terms, and relevant statutory requirements

Requirements:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Technology, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying, preferably in Interior Design, with expertise in pre- and post-contract administration.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project to effectively manage project documentation and analysis.
Language Skills: Proficient in Chinese, English and Malay to facilitate effective communication with diverse project stakeholders.
Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Mobility: Possess own transport for convenient travel to project sites and client meetings.
