Job Summary

A Junior Quantity Surveyor (QS) assists in managing the costs and contracts of construction projects, ensuring value for money while meeting legal and quality standards. This entry-level role involves supporting senior QS professionals in cost estimation, procurement, and financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQ), and tender documents.
• Analyze project specifications and drawings to identify material, labor, and time requirements.
• Support budget development and monitor expenditures.

Procurement & Contract Administration

• Help procure subcontractors and suppliers, obtaining competitive quotes.
• Assist in reviewing contracts, warranties, and bonds.
• Track variations, change orders, and claims.
• Monitor project costs against budgets and report discrepancies.
• Assist in valuing completed work (interim/final payments).
• Support the preparation of cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
• Visit sites to assess progress and verify measurements.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, engineers, and architects.
• Maintain accurate records (e.g., invoices, contracts, measurements).

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure adherence to legal, safety, and quality standards.
• Identify potential cost risks and propose mitigation strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Degree/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• Technical Skills:
• Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
• Familiarity with QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and MS Excel.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork.
• Experience:
• 0–2 years in a QS role (internships/training accepted)
