The Opportunity

Out client is a leading insurance group with over 110 years of experience managing workers’ insurance and compensation claims. They partner with employers, medical providers, and industry stakeholders to deliver market-leading return-to-work outcomes and safe work initiatives. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Junior Legal Counsel to join their KL, Malaysia-based team, on a hybrid set-up.

As a Junior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for the precise drafting, comprehensive review, and management of various contracts. Your primary focus will be on ensuring legal compliance, accuracy, and clarity in all contractual agreements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and maintain contracts including vendor, client, NDA, and partnership agreements
  • Review existing contracts to identify legal risks, areas for improvement, and compliance gaps
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with legal standards and internal objectives
  • Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations to guide internal stakeholders
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure accuracy and consistency

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • MUST possess Law Degree from a reputable university (UK, Australia, New Zealand, or Malaysia).
  • MUST have minimum 1-3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in contract drafting and legal review.
  • Strong knowledge of contract law, legal terminology, and corporate legal practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and legal document management tools; insurance industry experience is a plus.
