Job summary

ARIES MARIINE & ENGG SERVICES SDN BHD in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a junior Naval Architect/Marine Engineer to support site surveys and ship design tasks. You will prepare vessel drawings, including GA, Tank Capacity, Mooring and Structural plans, and mobilize for onboard surveys and tests.

You will revise drawings per client and class society comments, ensure compliance, and assist with basic calculations and documentation while coordinating with senior naval architects and other disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering or related field.
  • Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other CAD software to produce accurate drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and vessel plans.
  • Knowledge of classification society rules and marine regulations is an advantage.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally on short notice for surveys, site work and projects.
  • Good communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • Certificate of Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend sites/surveys and support design and drafting tasks.
  • Prepare vessel drawings: GA, Tank Capacity Plan, Mooring, Structural drawings and other vessel arrangement drawings.
  • Mobilize onboard vessels for surveys and tests (inclining, lightship, IHM).
  • Revise drawings per client, shipyard, owner and classification society comments.
  • Ensure drawings comply with rules, regulations and project requirements.
  • Coordinate with senior naval architects and other disciplines.
  • Assist with basic naval architectural calculations and technical documentation.
  • Process survey data to support modelling, drawing prep and retrofit design.
  • Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation.

Job description

Primary responsibility will be attending sites/surveys with added responsibility for design and drafting.

Prepare and develop vessel drawings, including:

  • General Arrangement (GA)
  • Tank Capacity Plan
  • Mooring Arrangement
  • Structural Drawings
  • Other vessel arrangement drawings as required

Mobilize onboard vessels for dimensional surveys, inclining tests, lightship surveys, IHM surveys, and other site activities, including work in engine rooms, machinery spaces, deck areas, accommodation spaces, confined spaces, and other restricted areas.

Revise drawings based on client, shipyard, owner, and classification society comments.

Ensure drawings are accurate and comply with applicable rules, regulations, and project requirements.

Coordinate with senior naval architects and other engineering disciplines.

Assist with basic naval architectural calculations and technical documentation.

Process survey data to support vessel modelling, drawing preparation, and retrofit design.

Maintain drawing revisions and project documentation

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering, or a related field.

This position is open to fresh graduates and candidates with a maximum of 2 years of relevant working experience.

Proficiency in AutoCAD or other relevant CAD software, with the ability to produce accurate and detailed engineering drawings.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and vessel plans.

Knowledge of classification society rules and marine regulations is an advantage.

Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice for vessel surveys, site work, and project assignments.

Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

  • Have certificate of Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering
  • Normal BMI & Fit to work
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or other relevant CAD software.
