IMR Press in Malaysia is seeking a Journal Academic Editor for a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru. You will oversee manuscript quality, ensure alignment with journal aims and ethics, and manage the peer-review process to maintain high standards.

Qualifications

• PhD in life sciences, medical and health sciences, materials science, social sciences, or a related discipline.
• In-depth understanding of peer review and academic publishing standards.
• Fluency in English and Chinese (written and spoken).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and common academic publishing tools.
• Prior experience in journal editing or editorial board work is preferred.
• Strong communication and decisive task execution.

Responsibilities

• Review manuscripts for academic quality and alignment with journal aims and ethics.
• Participate in reviewer selection, progress tracking, and evaluation of comments.
• Maintain relationships with authors, reviewers, editors, and collaborators; support manuscript commissioning.

• Review manuscripts for academic quality and assess whether they align with the journal’s aims and scope, publishing ethics, and relevant standards.
• Participate in the manuscript review process, including reviewer selection, review progress tracking, and evaluation of review comments.
• Maintain relationships with authors, reviewers, editorial board members, and academic collaborators, and support manuscript commissioning.
• Explore new channels for manuscript commissioning to improve solicitation efficiency and manuscript quality.
• Participate in international publishing conferences and academic exchange activities, assisting in improving the journal's quality standards and policy framework.

Requirements:

• PhD in life sciences, medical and health sciences, materials science, social sciences, or a related discipline.

• Fluency in both English and Chinese (written and spoken).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and common academic publishing and manuscript processing tools.
