Reporting to the Head of School, the Professor and Deputy Head of School (Research) will provide strategic leadership in advancing the School’s research priorities, aligned with Monash University Malaysia’s goal of being an anchor institution demonstrating impact to the Malaysian community. This role is responsible for driving a high-performance research culture, mentoring academic staff, and positioning the School as a leader in impactful, externally funded research. As a member of the School’s leadership team, the appointee will also contribute to academic governance and decision-making that enhances the School’s national and international standing.
To succeed, you will have an outstanding research record demonstrated by world class publications, generating research income, PhD supervision, leading major research projects and building research teams. You will bring proven experience in research leadership coupled with experience in leading impactful research groups, supporting the development of other academics and fostering a strong, collaborative and dynamic research culture. You exhibit highly developed internal and external stakeholder management skills, outstanding communication and influencing skills, strategic leadership in leading cross-campus collaboration and research initiatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead change, influence across diverse stakeholder groups, and foster a high-performance, collegial culture. Experience with attracting international funding and an established regional research network will be a strong advantage. A research doctorate in a relevant discipline is essential.
