Job summary

Great Eastern in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced Java/J2EE developer to join our IT team. You will develop, test and implement technical solutions, analyze requirements, and prepare designs and specifications.

You will also validate system requirements, support modifications, and ensure testing activities including UAT are delivered according to project plans. The role requires 1–3 years in the Insurance industry, strong OO design skills, and proficiency in English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent is required.
• Involve in application development with J2EE technologies: Java, JSP, JMS, JAXB, JDBC.
• Familiar with basic Unix/Linux commands and shell scripting.
• Analytical and creative problem solving.
• Proficient in object-oriented design techniques and principles.
• Resourceful, independent, good team player and result oriented.
• Proficient in both oral and written English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• 1 to 3 years working on the Insurance industry preferred
• To manage the entire functional testing/support UAT testing
• Prepare test plan, test cases, progress status report, Jira defects and work closely with team members

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and implement technical solutions. Prepare test plans and conduct unit, integration and system testing.
• Analyze user requirements, determine technical effort and prepare technical design and specifications.
• Analyze and validate system requirements and assist in development and implementation of programs.
• Code, test, debug, document and implement software applications according to standards.
• Evaluate and provide technical solutions to development problems.
• Follow project plan or release plan and maintain risk/change management to stay in scope.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
