Job summary

Streamline Media Group is seeking a Japanese Linguistic Specialist to translate and localize game content for the Japan market. You will bridge Streamline with Japanese clients, using your English and Japanese skills to make products appealing to Japanese players.

Responsibilities include translating in-game text, proofreading, LQA, and interpreting during meetings with clients. Prior experience and JLPT N1 are required for this role.

Qualifications

• JLPT N1 or native Japanese level required.
• Business English or higher (TOEIC 800+ preferred).
• 3+ years experience as EN<>JA translator or proofreader.

Responsibilities

• Translate English content to Japanese for in-game text, docs, and marketing.
• Perform proofreading, bug reports, and language quality assurance (LQA).

Description

The Japanese Linguistic Specialist is a language specialist that will assist in translating project-related documents, communication, and actual in-game texts by localizing products and/or workflows specific to our customers in Japan. You will act as a bridge that connects Streamline Media Group with the Japan market. Using your professional English and Japanese language abilities, you will be responsible for providing support to make Streamline’s products (services and games) appealing to the Japanese market.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conduct translation, proofreading, and editing of in-game content from English to Japanese.
2. Implement the translated text into the game & perform LQA including bug reports, language errors report, and making improvement suggestions.
3. Translate and localize marketing content (e.g. commercial videos, social media content, etc.).
4. Translate other documents related to internal projects.
5. Interpret (EN <> JA) during weekly online meetings with Japanese clients.

Qualifications

1. JLPT N1 or Native Japanese level required.
2. Business or above level in English (TOEIC 800+ preferred).
3. 3+ years of working experience as an English <> Japanese translator and/or proofreader in any industry.

Additional Skills (preferred)

1. Work experience in game development or operation, especially LQA.
2. 2+ years of work experience as an EN<>JA translator/interpreter in video games or entertainment.
3. In-depth knowledge of LQA-related software and tools.
4. UI/UX localization knowledge.
5. Work experience with CAT tools (Trados, MemoQ, Memsource, etc.).
6. Work experience in Japan or with Japanese companies.
7. Fluency in other languages in writing and reading.
