Job Description:
IT Technical Expert (Java, API, and Middleware)
Work Location: IOI City, Putrajaya
Work Arrangement: Fully onsite, Monday to Friday (5 days a week)
About the Role
We are seeking a Technical Expert with strong proficiency across multiple technologies to provide consulting, guidance, and technical leadership for enterprise systems. This role supports cross-functional projects — including migrations and modernization initiatives — working closely with IT teams in Kuala Lumpur and Europe.
This is not an application development role, but rather a consulting and technical expertise position focused on establishing standards, resolving complex issues, and enhancing performance across multiple platforms.
Define and enforce technical standards and best practices, including API governance, Java frameworks, and middleware configurations.
Provide expert-level performance tuning for Java applications and middleware platforms (e.g., memory management, garbage collection strategies), leveraging tools such as Dynatrace for performance analysis and recommendations.
Train and mentor development teams on technical best practices and support code reviews, particularly during Java version upgrades and obsolescence management.
Act as the top-tier escalation point for complex technical issues related to API management, Java performance, and application server optimization.
Collaborate with global teams on large-scale or complex projects, ensuring alignment with architectural and operational standards.
Strong expertise in Java and related frameworks (Spring, Spring Batch, Hibernate, Spring Boot).
Hands-on experience with API management platforms (knowledge of WSO2 preferred) and familiarity with OAuth and OpenID security protocols.
Experience with application servers such as IBM WebSphere and JBoss EAP.
Proficiency in DevOps tools: Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Helm).
Familiarity with cloud-native development; exposure to Azure Cloud or AWS is an advantage.
Knowledge of Python is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to address complex technical challenges.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work across regional teams.
Proactive and structured approach to driving standards, knowledge sharing, and technical excellence.
