Job summary

Sarawak Oil Palms is seeking an IT Data Analyst to unlock business value from data. You will build and maintain ETL pipelines, develop dashboards, and produce actionable insights for operations and strategy.

The role requires collaboration with heads of departments, strong programming skills (Python/SQL/R), experience with Power BI, and a structured, detail‑oriented approach to data projects.

Qualifications

• Degree/Master in Computer Science/Data Science/Software Engineering or related field
• 2-3 years in Data Analytics/Data Engineering/Data Science or similar
• Hands-on ETL experience and proficiency in Python/SQL/R for data analysis
• Knowledge of Power BI or other data visualization tools is a plus
• Certification in Python/R or Data Science-related areas is a plus
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to generate business insights
• Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision and a structured work approach
• Strong communication skills to liaise with department heads and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in Data Transformation initiatives and data-driven projects across business sectors
• Participate in full lifecycle of data-related implementations: engagement, requirements, data analysis, design, IT collaboration, testing, and data loading into the warehouse
• Support post-implementation activities: maintaining ETL processes, data pipelines, and dashboards
• Develop and maintain data reports and dashboards to support business decisions
• Stay updated on emerging data technologies and recommend suitable solutions

IT Data Analyst

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Possess a Degree/ Master’s in Computer Science/ Data Science/ Software Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 2-3 years of working experience in Data Analytics/Data Engineering/ Data Science, or a similar role
• Hands‑on experience with ETL processes and proficiency in programming languages for data analysis such as Python, SQL, or R
• Knowledge and experience in Power BI or other data visualization tools would be an added advantage
• Certification in Python/R programming or Data Science-related certification would be an added advantage
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to generate meaningful business insights
• Ability to work effectively in a team, with minimal supervision and demonstrate a structured approach to work
• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with Heads of Departments and stakeholders to present analysis results and business insights

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in the Company’s Data Transformation initiatives, including new data-driven projects and system improvement initiatives across various business sectors
• Participate in the full lifecycle of data-related implementations, including user engagement, requirements gathering, data analysis, solution design, collaboration with IT teams, testing, and development of data connections for loading data into the data warehouse

• Develop and maintain data reports and dashboards to support business decision-making
• Stay updated on emerging data technologies, tools, and industry best practices, and recommend suitable solutions where applicable
