Job Summary
To provide underwriting guidance and support to foreign Property Casualty Underwriters in the correct interpretation & application of country/regional underwriting practices and procedures.
Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities
- Advise on wording and coverage to facilitate the application of best practices and manage risks associated with writing country/regional covers under foreign global programs.
- Seek advice and agreement from the Receive underwriter and/or Technical Underwriting on complex coverage requests prior to service delivery.
- Take responsibility for issuing local policies, following instructions from the foreign Service Specialist accurately.
- Complete tasks according to internal and external guidelines within stipulated time frames and quality standards.
- Manage and resolve issues related to local coverage, policy issuance, premium payments, claims, and reporting during the insurance period.
- Recognize cross-selling opportunities and direct interested parties to the appropriate Underwriting teams.
- Identify areas for improvement and suggest solutions.
- Act as the local contact for customers and brokers regarding services provided by the global network, working closely with Service Specialists & Underwriters.
- Serve as a communication link between the producing and partner countries, including relationship management and due diligence.
- Provide technical guidance on local Underwriting philosophy and strategy.
- Maintain contact with Technical Underwriting and refer exceptional requests with recommendations.
- Implement and administer international policies within quality and timeline expectations.
- Interpret instructions, perform quality checks, and ensure accuracy of policy documents, invoices, and binders.
- Update local systems to maintain data quality and integrity.
- Manage claims data entry and coordinate among relevant parties, ensuring data quality in global tools.
- Attend meetings, monitor decisions, and ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Handle daily tasks of a medium-complexity Receive contract independently, with occasional support.
- Participate in LEAN initiatives such as Kaizen events and continuous improvement measures.
Job Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of experience in underwriting or related insurance fields.
- OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4+ years of experience in underwriting or related fields.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the US insurance industry and regulatory environment.
- Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, and regulations.
- Negotiation and sales skills.
- Fluency in languages other than English.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Relationship-building skills.
- Needs analysis experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
