Job Description
The IP & Licensing Specialist is responsible for managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio, providing legal advice on IP-related matters, and ensuring protection and enforcement of the company’s IP rights. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating IP agreements, handling IP registrations, and mitigating IP risks to support the company’s business objectives.
YOUR ROLE AS A:
IP & Legal Specialist
WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:
Provide legal advice and support on all intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets
Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related contracts such as licensing, assignments, non-disclosure agreements, and collaboration agreements
Manage the registration, renewal, and enforcement of the company’s IP rights domestically and internationally
Conduct IP due diligence for business transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships
Monitor and advise on IP infringement issues and coordinate enforcement actions when necessary
Collaborate with R&D, marketing, and business teams to identify and protect intellectual property
Stay updated on IP laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and advise on risks
Support dispute resolution, litigation, and alternative dispute mechanisms related to IP
Prepare reports and maintain comprehensive records of IP assets and legal activities
Liaise with external IP counsel, government agencies, and regulatory bodies as needed
WHO YOU ARE:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent; Master’s or specialized qualification in Intellectual Property Law preferred
Licensed to practice as IP lawyer or IP agent law in relevant jurisdiction(s) is a PLUS
Minimum 10 years of experience specializing in intellectual property law, preferably in-house or at a law firm
Strong knowledge of IP registration processes, enforcement, and licensing agreements across relevant and foreign jurisdictions
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
