A leading advisory firm in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Investment Associate/Senior Associate to manage international clients and participate in the full deal cycle. Candidates should have 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in Private Equity or M&A advisory and a recognized degree in finance. Applicants must be proactive, possess strong interpersonal skills, and be fluent in English, with Mandarin or Cantonese preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 to 7 years of experience in Private Equity, M&A advisory, or Corporate Finance.
  • Experience in FIG or other sectors like FMCG or Retail is welcome.
  • Strong personal attitude and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

The role

An exciting opportunity is now available with an M&A Advisory firm. The role is an Investment Associate or Senior Associate, as we are looking for someone who has the potential to take up future leadership position with our client\'s business.

At business level:

  • Manage multi international clients, investor relations and business leaders, ready to mingle, attend events, socialise and build good branding for the firm.
  • Fully be ready to get involved with the whole deal cycle, from deal origination to deal execution to deal closing. Drafting agreements, MOU, lead due-diligence and etc.
  • Constantly supporting the Head of M&A, be the right-hand person. You have to be a trusted professional and be the next one moving up.

At the execution level:

  • Remember, your job is not here to drink coffee or review papers, but to think of solutions and get things done by executing work, being hands-on, and getting your hands dirty to work.
  • Build and run financial models, evaluate multi-businesses and projects.
  • Run high-quality research, analysis, write reports on certain sectors to support your deal structuring.
  • Guide junior team members — pitch books, strategic proposals, marketing materials, company overviews and etc.

Our client prefers candidates with such a background:

  • Private Equity, Big4 transactional advisory, Deals advisory, M&A advisory, or Corporate Finance background with a minimum of solid 3 to 7 years of experience. Big4 or Big5 Deals consultant, Assistant Manager and Manager are highly encouraged to apply.
  • An internationally recognised degree in accounting/finance/economics and CA/CPA/CFA would be beneficial.
  • Deals candidates who touched on some FIG experience would be good (some only, no need all career in FIG); other industry sectors in FMCG, Consumer, Retail, Services, Manufacturing are all highly welcome.
  • A candidate who shows high level of pro-activity, self-motivation, high interpersonal skills, strong sense of belonging and skin in the game from day one.
  • Very meaningful deals advisory experience in both sell- or buy-side, someone who does not sit and wait to be given instructions. You are out there!
  • Strong command of English; Mandarin and Cantonese are highly preferred. Our client\'s partners and counterparts use English for business most of the time.
  • A person with a great personal attitude, friendly, likeable, non-picky, hard-working, a rainmaker.
  • A high willingness to travel and be based and work overseas.
