DayOne Data Centers Malaysia I Sdn. Bhd. seeks an experienced LoD2 Audit & Control Testing professional to lead independent operational control reviews across data center sites. The role emphasizes assessing design and effectiveness of controls with evidence-based findings.
Join a fast-growing data center operator expanding across APAC and Europe, interfacing with senior leadership and external auditors to drive remediation actions and governance reporting.
DayOne is a global leader in the development and operation of high-performance data centers. As one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, we’ve built a robust presence across Asia and Europe — and we’re just getting started. As we expand into new international markets, we’re looking for talented, driven individuals to join us on this exciting journey. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be a key contributor to our dynamic team and help shape the future of global data infrastructure. If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.
DayOne builds and operates hyperscale data centers across eight markets in APAC and Europe.
We raised US$4.5B in Series C funding and are in active build across the region.
As we scale across jurisdictions and prepare for the scrutiny that comes with that growth, the internal controls function becomes one of the most consequential in the business — this role sits at the center of that.
This is a genuine second line of defence role — independent, evidence-based, and with direct access to senior leadership and governance committees. You'll own operational control reviews across DayOne's data center sites, assess whether controls work in practice rather than just on paper, and hold findings with enough rigor to defend them in front of external auditors and certification bodies. If you're looking for a controls role where your output influences real operational decisions at scale, the scope here is real.
Plan and execute independent operational control reviews across data center processes including facility operations, change management, incident management, physical access, vendor management, and capacity planning.
Design and conduct control testing programs to assess both design adequacy and operational effectiveness across multiple sites and entities.
Document findings with root cause analysis and risk ratings that are well-evidenced and defensible — not just descriptive.
Issue findings reports and track remediation actions through to verified closure.
Maintain a risk-based view of control effectiveness across data center entities, updating the control risk register as the environment and findings evolve.
Conduct walkthroughs, interviews, and document reviews to assess whether operational procedures reflect actual practice on the ground.
Identify systemic or cross-site control weaknesses and elevate patterns — not just individual findings.
Support the development of Key Risk Indicators and Key Control Indicators relevant to data center operations.
Work with operational leads, site managers, and process owners to gather evidence, agree on findings, and set realistic remediation timelines — while maintaining LoD2 independence throughout.
Liaise with external auditors, ISO certification bodies, and regulatory reviewers as a credible point of contact for internal controls matters.
Prepare control assessment reports for senior management and governance committees covering findings, risk exposure, and remediation status.
5 to 7 years of experience in internal audit, internal controls, operational risk, or process assurance.
Prior experience in a data center, technology infrastructure, or complex operational environment — this is required, not preferred.
Solid understanding of operational control frameworks and process assurance methodologies with the ability to independently design and execute control tests from scoping through to findings and reporting.
Familiarity with data center operational processes including power, cooling, connectivity, change management, physical access, and vendor oversight.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001 or hands‑on QA audit experience is an advantage.
Exposure to ISO/IEC 27001 or ISO 22301 is valued.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Reaches independent conclusions based on evidence and defends findings under pressure from senior stakeholders without adjusting the finding to reduce friction.
Produces written reports that are specific, actionable, and legible to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Manages multiple audit workstreams simultaneously without losing rigor or documentation discipline.
DayOne is scaling fast across eight markets — which means the control environment is getting more complex, not less.
This role has genuine scope: you'll work across multiple sites and jurisdictions, engage directly with external auditors and certification bodies, and produce findings that reach governance committees.
For a controls professional who wants their work to carry weight rather than sit in a drawer, the platform here is the right size at the right moment.
