Job summary

Grab invites interns to join the MALTA team in Petaling Jaya to help build and refine the software foundations for Grab mobile apps. You will develop and test backend services, review code with peers, and document backend architectures while learning scalable mobile architectures and automation.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager II on a paid internship basis, with on-site work in Petaling Jaya and exposure to a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values quality and

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Go, Java/Kotlin, Swift, or C/C++.
• Foundational understanding of automated software testing (unit, integration, etc.).
• Familiarity with Git and working in a command-line development environment.

The MALTA team at Grab establishes and refines the software foundations and infrastructure for all Grab mobile apps, aiming to enhance productivity and deliver stable, scalable, and secure products with top quality and speed. They follow principles of scalable mobile architectures, consolidating reusable assets, pervasive automation, and continuous delivery for all mobile apps.

The MALTA team at Grab focuses on creating and refining the software foundations and infrastructure for all Grab mobile apps. We follow principles of building scalable mobile architectures, consolidating reusable software assets, using automation, and driving continuous delivery for mobile applications.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager II. This is a paid internship role and is based onsite in Petaling Jaya.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will develop and test backend services.
• You will participate in code reviews to help improve the overall quality of the codebase.
• You will collaborate with teams to identify and define project requirements.
• You will maintain technical documentation for backend systems and architecture.
• You will troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• Available to start in SEPTEMBER 2026
• Currently pursue a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Python, Go, Java/Kotlin, Swift, or C/C++.
• A foundational understanding of automated software testing, including concepts such as unit, integration, component, or end-to-end testing.
• Familiarity with Git and working in a command-line development environment.
