1. Client Consultation & Requirement Analysis
- Discuss client needs, preferences, and budget
- Understand functional requirements (residential, commercial, hospitality, etc.)
- Provide initial design suggestions and mood boards
2. Space Planning & Conceptual Design
- Create floor plans, layouts, and 3D visualizations
- Select color schemes, materials, furniture, and decor
- Develop design concepts that align with client expectations
3. Site Visits (Critical Responsibility)
Initial Site Assessment:
- Measure dimensions and document existing conditions (walls, windows, doors, electrical points, plumbing)
- Take photographs for reference
- Identify structural limitations or opportunities.
Progress Monitoring:
- Ensure contractors follow design specifications
- Check material quality and workmanship
- Resolve on-site issues (e.g., mismatched finishes, incorrect installations)
Final Inspection:
- Verify completion as per design plans
- Ensure compliance with safety and building codes
4. Material & Furniture Selection
- Source finishes (flooring, tiles, paint, wallpaper)
- Select furniture, lighting, and accessories
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors
5. Technical Drawings & Documentation
- Prepare detailed drawings (CAD, SketchUp, Revit)
- Specify materials, dimensions, and construction details
- Create Bill of Quantities for contractors
6. Coordination with Contractors & Stakeholders
- Liaise with architects, electricians, carpenters, and plumbers
- Supervise construction and installation work
7. Budget & Timeline Management
- Estimate project costs and track expenses
- Ensure deadlines are met.
8. Post-Completion Services
- Client handover and feedback collection
- Provide maintenance recommendations
Job requirement:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field (required)
Experience:
2–3 years of professional experience in interior design (depending on level)
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, or similar
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
Strong understanding of materials, lighting, color theory, and space planning
Design Knowledge:
Familiarity with building codes, ADA regulations, and industry standards
Ability to create mood boards, 3D renderings, floor plans, and elevations
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong creative and problem-solving abilities
Good time management and ability to work under deadlines
