Job summary

Aurecon invites a seasoned Inspector of Works (Civil & Structure) to join the Transport, Land, & Water team in Petaling Jaya on a hybrid basis. You will supervise earthworks and infrastructure projects, ensure safety and quality, and coordinate with contractors and authorities to bring projects to life.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering or Technology is required.
• At least 15 years of relevant experience in earthworks and infrastructure projects, preferably from the consultancy industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Good multitasking, prioritising and organisation skills.
• Competency in written and spoken English is required.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer with daily supervision of site delivery to ensure safety, on-schedule, and high-quality output.
• Lead and work as part of the supervision team on site.
• Ensure Contractors’ Safe Work Method Statements and Work Permits are in place before work commences on site.
• Attend toolbox safety meetings as an observer and participate in site inspections and meetings.
• Direct daily progress of the works and coordinate with project team members and authorities on site matters.
• Read and interpret drawings and specifications and ensure works comply with contract requirements.

Here are the key things you will do to ‘bring ideas to life’. * To assist the RE with daily supervising the delivery of the project on site to ensure that it is completed safely, on schedule and of the highest quality.* To work as a team for the supervision works.* Ensure the Contractors’ Safe Work Method Statement /Work Permits are in place before work commences on site.* Attend Contractors’ weekly “Toolbox Talk” safety meetings as an observer.* Directs the daily progress of the work.* Attend Request for Inspections (RFI) as required from RE.* Ensure all documentation related to the works is in place, updated regularly and in systematic order.* Attend meetings including but not limited to site meetings, technical meetings, sub-contractor meetings and coordinating all site issues and highlight construction status to superior.* Liaise with the project team members, including contractors, sub-contractors etc. and authorities on all site matters and interfacing works.* Read and interpret drawing plans and specifications.* Be thoroughly familiar with the project requirements – drawings, specifications, procedures.* Carry out the role of QC Inspector where required.* Ensure works are carried out in compliance with construction drawings and specifications.* Supervise site operation works, ensuring timely completion without compromising the quality of delivery, regulations and standards.* Check and ensure that the quality of works are carried out in accordance with the regulations, specifications and standards of local authority/contract.* To ensure that all materials delivered to site are as per approved Specifications.* Carry out inspection for defects and provide defect list upon completion of the works.
