Job summary

A leading company in the construction industry is seeking an Inspector of Work to oversee M&E, C&S, and Architectural inspections across multiple sites in Malaysia. The role involves ensuring compliance with specifications, supervising contractor work, and producing progress reports. Ideal candidates will possess a relevant degree, experience in inspections, and proficiency in design software.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in M&E / C&S / Architectural consultancy or developer.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • Willing to be based in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, or Melaka.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all M&E / C&S / Architectural inspections on site.
  • Coordinate with other IOW related works.
  • Supervise daily works to ensure compliance with approved specifications and drawings.

Skills

Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD
Proficiency in Autodesk Revit

Education

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering

Inspector of Work (C&S/ M&E/ Architectural) (KL & JB)

  1. To carry out all M&E / C&S / Architectural inspections on site.
  2. To coordinate with other IOW related works.
  3. To supervise daily works to ensure compliance with approved specifications and drawings.
  4. To verify contractor site daily reports and compile relevant documents.
  5. To witness tests and ensure only approved materials are used as per contract.
  6. To generate site progress reports and issue site memos as necessary.
  7. To identify and report defects on site for further action.
  8. To monitor contractors’ daily work progress and manpower.
  9. To monitor construction schedules and report anomalies.
  10. To push contractors regarding work progress to avoid delays.
  11. To regularly report site matters and progress to the site manager.
  12. To report non-conformance work to superiors for action.
  13. To report discrepancies between drawings and actual work immediately.
  14. To record and compile all site activities daily.
  15. To liaise with and assist other site colleagues as required.
  16. To attend progress coordination meetings with contractors and consultants.
  17. To ensure operations adhere to global standards, focusing on environmental impact, biodiversity, and waste management.
  18. To minimize resource usage and promote recycling.
  19. To maintain high environmental safety standards and prevent pollution.
  20. To ensure proper utilization of construction materials and resources.
  21. To prevent misuse of resources.
Control & Monitoring the Defect Rectification
  1. To ensure units are rectified with minimal defects.
  2. To conduct joint inspections with Customer Relation Department before CPC issuance.
  3. To inspect units after CPC to ensure proper installation and cleanliness.
  4. To record defect lists and forward to relevant contractors.
  5. To carry out joint inspections upon receiving defect lists.
  6. To monitor rectification progress within the allowable time frame.
  7. To update the status of rectification work regularly.
  8. To coordinate with Customer Service for joint defect inspections.
  9. To execute final inspections with Customer Relation Department and hand over keys.
Others
  1. To ensure site compliance with safety and health regulations (DOSH/JKKP).
  2. To implement policies, procedures, and instructions as per the quality management system.
  3. To meet customer and statutory requirements.
  4. To implement actions from risk and opportunity assessments.
  5. To undertake additional duties as instructed by superiors.
Requirements
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of experience in M&E / C&S / Architectural consultancy or developer.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Revit or relevant design software.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • Willing to be based in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, or Melaka.
