Maintenance of a hospital-wide Infection Control Program: Responsible for ensuring compliance with current professional standards and collaborating with the Human Resources department to maintain employee health records for regulatory adherence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in and coordinate a quarterly Infection Control Committee meeting to review policies, quality indicators, and infection control issues.
- Plan and conduct training sessions related to infection control topics.
- Develop systems for reporting, data collection, and evaluation of infection incidences and trends among patients and staff, including surveillance reporting to relevant committees.
- Monitor and analyze quality indicators for ongoing improvement.
- Guide infection control link-nurses and hold quarterly meetings with them.
- Ensure timely delivery of infection control orientation and in-service training programs for staff.
- Perform routine surveillance rounds in clinical areas, ensuring compliance and making recommendations.
- Manage infectious case handling and advise on related procedures.
- Assist in reviewing and updating SOPs related to infection control.
- Support HR in monitoring staff health status, document investigations, and provide counseling and referrals as needed.
- Coordinate vaccination programs for Hepatitis B and Typhoid.
- Monitor employee exposures and injuries, collaborating with safety teams.
- Identify and support employees exposed to blood or body fluids.
- Serve as a resource on infection control matters.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:
- State Registered Nurse or Medical Assistant qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience, preferably in critical care or operating theatre.
- Post-basic certificate in infection control management.
- Valid annual practicing certificate.
