Job description

Maintenance of a hospital-wide Infection Control Program: Responsible for ensuring compliance with current professional standards and collaborating with the Human Resources department to maintain employee health records for regulatory adherence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in and coordinate a quarterly Infection Control Committee meeting to review policies, quality indicators, and infection control issues.
  2. Plan and conduct training sessions related to infection control topics.
  3. Develop systems for reporting, data collection, and evaluation of infection incidences and trends among patients and staff, including surveillance reporting to relevant committees.
  4. Monitor and analyze quality indicators for ongoing improvement.
  5. Guide infection control link-nurses and hold quarterly meetings with them.
  6. Ensure timely delivery of infection control orientation and in-service training programs for staff.
  7. Perform routine surveillance rounds in clinical areas, ensuring compliance and making recommendations.
  8. Manage infectious case handling and advise on related procedures.
  9. Assist in reviewing and updating SOPs related to infection control.
  10. Support HR in monitoring staff health status, document investigations, and provide counseling and referrals as needed.
  11. Coordinate vaccination programs for Hepatitis B and Typhoid.
  12. Monitor employee exposures and injuries, collaborating with safety teams.
  13. Identify and support employees exposed to blood or body fluids.
  14. Serve as a resource on infection control matters.
  15. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Requirements:

  1. State Registered Nurse or Medical Assistant qualification.
  2. Minimum of 3 years clinical experience, preferably in critical care or operating theatre.
  3. Post-basic certificate in infection control management.
  4. Valid annual practicing certificate.

  1. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  2. Strong statistical and analytical skills.
