· Maintenance of a hospital-wide Infection Control Program in line with current and adopted professional standards.
· Work with the Human Resources department to maintain current employee health files for all staff members to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in and coordinate a quarterly Infection Control Committee meeting to review infection control policies, quality indicators, and discuss related issues.
- Plan and conduct training on infection control topics.
- Develop a reporting system for data collection and evaluation of infection incidences and trends among patients and healthcare professionals, including surveillance findings for reporting to the infection control committee and nursing division.
- Monitor and analyze quality indicators for continuous improvement.
- Guide infection control link nurses in respective wards and conduct quarterly meetings with them.
- Ensure timely infection control orientation and in-service training programs for employees.
- Perform routine surveillance rounds in clinical areas, make recommendations, and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Manage and advise on handling infectious cases within the hospital.
- Assist in reviewing SOPs related to infection control.
- Support the Human Resources Department in monitoring the health status of all employees.
- Document investigations and forward to HR for employee records; provide counseling and referrals as necessary.
- Make Hepatitis B and Typhoid vaccines available to employees where applicable.
- Monitor and investigate employee injuries or exposures with the Environmental Safety Health team or Safety Officer.
- Identify, assist, counsel, and refer employees exposed to blood/body fluids to medical staff.
- Serve as a resource person on infection control matters.
- Perform any other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Requirements:
- State Registered Nurse or Medical Assistant.
- At least 3 years of clinical experience, preferably in critical care or operating theatre.
- Post-basic certificate in infection control management.
- Valid annual practicing certificate.
